Our voice is an inherent part of who we are — yet we often mute ourselves to fit the world around us. Vocal artist and coach Ilhem Khodja invites us to explore what happens when, instead of performing, we finally listen. Ilhem—meaning inspiration in Arabic—is an internationally acclaimed singer, composer, and mentor dedicated to exploring the transformative power of the human voice. Her multicultural roots and nomadic journey have shaped a sound that fuses jazz, world music, and electronic textures, featured at TEDxBerlin, UNICEF’s Roger Moore Charity Gala, Mutek Mexico, and the Polanco Jazz Festival.
A certified sound therapy practitioner, Ilhem is also a sought-after voice and transformation coach. She guides individuals in freeing their voices, overcoming blockages, and reconnecting with authentic expression, combining masterclasses, creative alignment, and integration practices. As a core mentor at Freedom Engine Academy, she continues to expand her impact at the crossroads of art, sound, and personal growth.
Currently based between Berlin and Mexico City, Ilhem is developing her solo performance What Emerges from the Echo and recording her first solo album. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
