Critically Endangered Sumatran Elephants

It's pretty frustrating to witness first hand the results of our want and greed. We all need to be more responsible and understand the results of our actions. That is a big part of the issue, you just don't see the effect the countless products we produce, buy and sell has on the environment and the wildlife. It's my goal to bring faces to these issues relating directly to the critically endangered Sumatran elephant. Each month elephant herds in Sumatra are found poisoned or shot to protect the valuable palm plantations that produce the oil palm that goes into so many of the products on sale. Below is a link to a list of products that are palm oil free. Buying these products will help reduce the demand for oil palms and reduce the demand for the destruction of critical habitat for wildlife.

Admittedly this is a long term solution and a slow process. The problems for the critically endangered elephants of Sumatra also require a quick abrupt solution if the remaining 1500 wild elephants are going to survive the short term. I don't quite know what that solution is or how that might work, apart from having many people actually coming to Sumatra and physically participating in programs designed to combat the issues. I do know it requires more than just posting a no makeup selfie. It's more than hitting the like button, it's more than a share. It truly requires all of those and further actions. In order to convince you to take action I need to connect you with the problem by putting faces to the issues. That's where this short video comes in. Hopefully it will evoke some emotions and connect you enough to want to make a change or participate. If enough people take steps to participate we can start to turn this awful trend around.
