(2019) Hinge Rescue (FULL) How to setup for Lowering and Raising Patients - Firefighter Training

The Hinge Rescue is a very useful rescue technique that has been used by Fire Departments and emergency services for many years to lower patients from elevated positions safely. Some may not know however that with some minor changes to the rope system and the creation of a mechanical advantage, it can also be used to raise a patient from a lower position to a higher position in a controlled manner. In this video we show the setup and explain how this rescue works, what you need to make it work and some key things that you need to pay attention to during the entire process.

As a group of Rural Volunteer Firefighters, our Fire Department has built our firefighter training from both old and new tactics in the fire service and adapted them to fit the realities of equipment, manpower, cost and what our community requires.
