🍚 Gyudon – The Ultimate Japanese Comfort Food!
🥩 Ingredients (Serves 2)
300g Eye of Round steak (sliced 3mm thin)
1 medium onion (thinly sliced)
3 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp mirin
2 tbsp sake
1 tbsp sugar
5g Dashi Powder
½ or 1 cup water
Steamed rice (for serving)
Optional toppings: sliced green onions, pickled ginger, soft-boiled egg
👨🍳 Method
1️⃣ Slice the Beef – Cut your eye of round steak into thin, 3mm strips, slicing against the grain for maximum tenderness.
2️⃣ Sauté the Onions – In a pan over medium heat, cook the sliced onions until they become soft and translucent.
3️⃣ Simmer the Beef – Add the beef to the pan and cook until just browned.
4️⃣ Make the Sauce – Pour in soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, Water, and dashi. Let everything simmer for a 10-20 minutes until the flavors meld together.
5️⃣ Serve Over Rice – Ladle the beef and onions over a steaming bowl of rice. Add your favorite toppings and enjoy!
