A state bridge that connects Margate to neighboring cities is now named for a fallen soldier. SPC Daniel Agami, who attended the Lubavitch Hebrew Academy in Margate during grades 1-5, was killed with four other soldiers in a Humvee while patrolling Adhamiyah, Iraq on June 21, 2007. He was 25 years old.
Daniel joined the military in 2005. The tragedy of September 11, 2001, had fueled his drive to serve, his parents said. “America fights for freedom and survival for the souls of the entire world,” Daniel once said.
Florida Rep. Christine Hunschofsky filed an amendment to rename the state bridge on State Road 7 over Sample Road in his memory. It became law in July. On December 16, 2025, he was remembered by his parents, siblings, and a fellow soldier for his compassion, strength, love of America, and character during a formal naming ceremony, a joint effort by three cities, Broward County, and the state of Florida.
Hear about his legacy, now set in stone. #OurMargate
