Terrified and shaken by what he had just witnessed, Smith alerted the police to the sadistic world of Ian Brady and Myra Hindley — the couple later infamously known as the Moors Murderers.

His decision to come forward, despite immense fear and personal risk, exposed the pair’s horrific crimes and ensured that their reign of terror was brought to a close.

That single call would unravel one of the darkest chapters in British criminal history.
