I start this series of videos about building Gaming Linux From Scratch (GLFS) on Multilib Linux From Scratch (MLFS) by going through what GLFS is and how I intend to test the final installation.
In this series of videos I demonstrate how to install Gaming Linux From Scratch (GLFS) using revision # 443351 of the rolling-release GLFS book. MLFS is a requirement to build GLFS on a 64-bit system.
I use the same MLFS-r12.3-833 that I built in previous videos (watch these here: • MLFS r12.3-833 - How to build Multili... ) as the working environment on the same hardware. The complete build process is captured throughout this series and demonstrates a working Steam installation and a working Wine installation.
As with MLFS, certain packages will be compiled twice: once for 64 bit and once for 32 bit binaries. It's even necessary to compile one package four times. The whole build therefore entails many hours of compiling and testing so it may take several days on even the fastest systems.
As with the standard MLFS build, all packages used in GLFS are freely available. They are open source and compiled from source except the following:
1. Steam
2. NVIDIA drivers
3. AMDGPU PRO drivers
4. Factorio (used for demonstrations and not part of GLFS)
