Allah is the Omnipotent and Eternal, making it no surprise that His Shariah would be timeless. Too frequently, we are bombarded with the claim that this Shariah was meant for a different time and place, and a majority of its rulings have lost their relevance today. In this talk, Sh. Mohammad Elshinawy will help crystallize for us how ignoring the Shariah is actually regressive, not progressive. By focusing on women’s rights, as just one example, he will help us appreciate just how Islam dignifies women and how the modern popular culture exploits them. In this way, we can enhance our confidence that the world has not – nor will it ever – outgrow the Shariah.
Shaykh Mohammad Elshinawy is a dedicated student of knowledge from Brooklyn, New York. Having gravitated towards the studies of Qur’an, Hadith, Fiqh, and Aqeedah, and being fluent in both Arabic and English, he has used his oratory skills to teach Islam to the community, thereby becoming one of the most prominent callers to Islam in New York City. Mohammad is a translator for Mishkah University, in charge of the Dawah department for Muslims Giving Back, and is the translator at the annual AMJA conference.
