How Facing Death Can Help You Truly Live

People ask me all the time if I’m afraid of death. The honest answer is no, but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t still feel fear, sadness, anger, or grief if I were ever facing a terminal diagnosis. Being comfortable with death doesn’t mean you stop having human emotions. It means you learn how to sit with them instead of running from them.

In this video, I walk through how to move the idea of death from your head to your heart so it becomes something you can actually understand, feel, and integrate into how you live your life. I share the daily practices that helped me face my own mortality through my work as a hospice nurse, including how to gently confront the reality that we will all die, how imagining limited time clarifies what really matters, how to accept what you can and cannot control, how legacy shapes your choices, why mindfulness helps you tolerate discomfort, and why talking openly about death matters more than most people realize.

This isn’t about being morbid or scaring yourself. It’s about becoming more present, more aligned with your values, and more honest with yourself about how you want to live while you’re still here. Learning to sit with uncomfortable feelings around death can actually bring a sense of freedom, clarity, and deeper appreciation for life.
