Eastern Bluebirds with eggs in nest. Have you ever wondered what it takes for a tiny bluebird chick to transform from a helpless hatchling to a feathered fledgling? Witness the incredible growth spurt of six bluebird hatchlings from birth to their first flight, just 2-1/2 weeks captured in this heartwarming video. June 11 - June 29, 2025.

I've been observing Eastern Bluebirds for over 15 years. When they nest in our yard I supplement feed them with live mealworms to help insure their young survive. This is our first nest camera.

It takes approximately two weeks for the female to incubate eggs after the last one is laid. And approximately another two weeks for hatchlings to fledge. Interesting things I observed with the camera was the female helping hatchlings break out of the eggs, and the large size insects that fit in those newly hatched beaks.
