Join us on this glorious day that the Lord has made, fully rejoicing and praising His name on high. Pastor Phillip Tucker, Senior Pastor of Awaken Christian Church, brings forth a powerful word preaching from the Book of Matthew. As Sister Jordan begins by leading us in praise and worship, opening up the floodgates of Heaven, that He may pour out a blessing we don’t have room enough to receive. Partaking in the sacraments of Holy Communion, publicly honoring Our Lord and Savior, remembering and commemorating His dying on the cross. It is, as it is written in 1 Corinthians 11:23-26, a time of celebration, assessment, and recognition that we are one body in Christ. “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity” Psalm 133:1.
Pastor Phil shares with us that “character is more easily kept than recovered” as his spiritual father Bishop Gideon Thompson once told him. As Christian’s we are called to a higher standard, above the Webster’s definition, to have a Godly character. Personally defining Godly character, as the spiritual and moral qualities that reflect, embody, and apply as a lifestyle the goodness, righteousness, and love of God. We must honor God, in all circumstances, especially when tested and tempted by the enemy.
Reading from Matthew 4:1-11, we hear and see how the devil tries to trip us up, using the Word of God himself, trying to deceive us and see if we are confident in our faith. But the Lord has spoken, “Do not put the Lord your God to the test”, for we are to “Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only; humble ourselves and pray, seek His face and turn from our wicked ways” (Matthew 4:7, 10; 2 Chronicles 7:14).
The devil attacks and seeks to destroy us, by the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life as it is written in 1 John 2:16, and we see played out as Jesus is tested in the wilderness in Matthew 4 and by the events of this world particularly at The Oscars this past week. We are in control with Christ, and He gives us every tool and weapon we need to be successful. Tune in to today’s sermon to hear the seven keys to keeping the enemy from gaining a foothold on you!
