BIOFLOC FISH FARMING TRAINING BOOSTS AQUACULTURE IN NAGARJAN
A one-day training program on Biofloc Fish Farming was successfully conducted at the Fishery Department Hall, Half Nagarjan, organized by the Northeast Welfare Society. The event saw the participation of 20 aspiring fish farmers from various parts of the region. Special guest from the Fisheries Department graced the event and highlighted the importance of sustainable fish farming in the state. The training focused on the Biofloc technique, which is still very new in Nagaland, but holds great promise for boosting fish production in limited spaces.
Experts shared that Biofloc farming requires 24/7 monitoring, with special attention to water quality, frequent feeding, and reliable electricity for irrigation. It is ideal for places with limited land but demands careful management to succeed.
Participants were also informed that schemes from both the state and central governments are available to support Biofloc fish farming initiatives. Apart from theory, practical was held at Purana Bazar.
