Edinburgh's Calton Hill formed round a fragment from a volcanic eruption 350 million years ago.
Calton Hill has some of Edinburgh's best views, taking in Edinburgh Castle. Arthur's Seat and Salisbury Crags, as well as the Port of Leith, Holyrood the Old Town and the New Town.
Calton Hill is home to the National Monument of Scotland, The City Observatory and the Nelson Monument, so well worth a visit on any trip to Edinburgh.
Follow my adventures as I travel through the landscapes and history of Scotland. I make quick, quirky and (hopefully) funny content about Scotland's past, people and scenery.
I look for the hidden stories, forgotten people and beautiful scenery of Scotland and try to find the funny in the darkness, obscurity and occasional absurdity of our history.
