Independent author Morgan Jones Keeler grew up in a fundamentalist Christian cult. She wrote Blackbird Raven Crow as a cautionary tale about sacrificing one's true self to a false religion. Keeler draws on Biblical passages and history, as well as fairy tales and legends to create a dark fantasy tale in an immersive Midwestern Gothic setting that somehow feels truer than reality.
