Waterton Canyon, southwest of the metropolitan Denver area is still a place to see wildlife close to a major urban area. from deer to Big Horn Sheep, to foxes, wild turkey, and the rare sighting of mountain lions. The canyon is also home to black bear which can occasionally be spotted on the hillsides and in the scrub oak. On this day a small black bear decided to make an appearance closer to the entrance of the canyon in full view of the crowds which quickly assembled to take a gander at the bruin. Fortunately folks kept a respectful distance until the bear decided to seek out more privacy across the river...
