Back in the day, a gap year was considered the kiss of death. We would hear, if you take a year off, you won't go back to school.
There is a lot more to consider these days when thinking about a gap year.
the cost of college
mental health issues
maturity level of your teen
It's just not the same. 30% of college students do not make it to their sophomore year. I see this happening in many cases because the teen was not ready or did not want to go, and was pushed into it by their school/parents, etc.
Many times, they just considered it as the next thing they were 'supposed' to do. Let's have a candid discussion on how to handle it when your teen thinks they may want to take a gap year.
