Reaching Capanna Margherita at the summit of Monte Rosa from Alagna Valsesia is no mean feat
In the 2025 edition, the traditional Monte Rosa SkyMarathon, the highest race in Europe, has been joined by the new Monte Rosa SkySummit. Both races follow the same route, but the Monte Rosa SkySummit ends at Margherita, while the Monte Rosa SkyMarathon ends in Alagna.
Thus were four races on the glaciers of Monte Rosa, scheduled for June 14 and 15, 2025:
Monte Rosa SkySummit • Alagna-Capanna Margherita – 17.5 km / 3,500m+
Monte Rosa SkyMarathon • Alagna-Monte Rosa-Alagna – 35 km / 7,000m+/-
AMA VK2 • Alagna-Punta Indren – 9 km / 2,086m+
Monte Rosa Vertical • Alagna-Bocchetta delle Pisse – 5.32 km / 1,150m+
These environmentally friendly events, certified ISO 20121 in 2023, aim to raise awareness about deglaciation and promote sustainable tourism in the high mountains.
