Lakers Sign Deandre Ayton & Re-Sign Jaxson Hayes! Big Moves for the LakeShow | ISO Mode

The Los Angeles Lakers just made a major offseason move by signing Deandre Ayton, the former #1 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. Ayton averaged 16.7 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks per game in 2024 and brings elite size, rebounding, and interior scoring to a Lakers team looking to get back into title contention.

Ayton was a key piece in the Phoenix Suns’ 2021 Finals run and is known for his pick-and-roll finishing, rim protection, and efficient mid-range game. His presence at center provides a much-needed two-way anchor in the paint for L.A.

Alongside Ayton, the Lakers have also re-signed Jaxson Hayes to a one-year deal. Hayes, who averaged 4.5 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 0.6 blocks in just under 13 minutes per game during the 2024-25 season, returns as an athletic backup center who brings energy, vertical spacing, and defensive versatility off the bench.
