Many people compare modern girlfriend–boyfriend culture with the concept of laundiyan (bondwomen) mentioned in classical Islamic history. This video clarifies a common misunderstanding. Islam does not approve of casual relationships, nor does it endorse exploitation.
The system of slavery existed before Islam. Islam regulated it, restricted it, and opened multiple paths for its gradual abolition. Laundiyan were part of a historical social structure, not a moral ideal to be revived today.
