Citizens for Modern Transit hosted a virtual “Talking Transit” event on Thursday, Jan. 15, at 8:30 a.m. via Zoom. This event highlighted the trajectory of transit in the St. Louis region moving into 2026.
Those in attendance heard from local transit leaders on the various projects currently underway on both sides of the Mississippi River – including light rail expansion to MidAmerica St. Louis Airport and the latest with the St. Louis Northside-Southside corridor. The funding landscape, priority projects and operating plans for Metro Transit, St. Clair County Transit District and Madison County Transit were also addressed. The discussion featured a panel that included Jon Schaller, Senior Project Manager/Deputy Construction Manager Gonzalez Companies and project manager for the Illinois LRT project; Taulby Roach, President and CEO of Bi-State Development; Ronald Forrest, Chief Operating Officer for Metro Transit; SJ Morrison, Managing Director for Madison County Transit; and Ken Sharkey, Managing Director for the St. Clair County Transit District. The conversation was moderated by Kimberly Cella, CEO of Citizens for Modern Transit.
