Thanks to the limited build numbers of the Falcon Hardtop and due to the incredible exposure given to the Falcon Hardtop in movies like Mad Max and even through Eric Bana's adventures with his Hardtop, the Falcon Hardtop is one of the most sought after models among Aussie car enthusiasts. Finding a nicely sorted example that really highlights the natural toughness of these Hardtops is rare. And building one is never an inexpensive exercise. So finding one in this condition that has been tastefully modded is a rarity.

Purchased by the current owner in 2004 as a rolling shell, the Fairmont sat on a rotisserie for many years and was completed in time for the Echuca Hardtop Show in 2013. Mechanically, the XA Hardtop runs a 470 HP 393 Cleveland stroker motor built by Graham Silk Race Engines of Queanbeyan, NSW with Scat crank and rods, roller rockers, forged pistons, AeroFlow alloy heads, comp cam, an 850 Holley carby, MSD ignition, Edlebrock manifold and an aluminium radiator with twin thermo fans. Power goes through to a Tremec T56 Magnum 6 speed gearbox with Ace Comp clutch and a QuickTime bell housing. A custom strengthened tailshaft transfers the power to the 9" disc brake rear end with 31 Spline axles and a 2.75 Eaton Tru Track centre.
