Here’s a demo of the JDM Pedals Buzz Hound, a Germanium fuzz pedal based on the legendary Burns Baldwin Buzzaround, played, amongst others, by Robert Fripp on the early King Crimson records. Joe from JDM gave me the pedal for free in exchange for me making this vid; no money changed hands, Joe has no say over the content of this vid and didn’t see it before publishing. Here we go :-)

In 2015, I wanted to try some new fuzzes. Joe Dochterman from JDM Pedals (https://www.joedocmusic.com/pedals/) was so kind to send me three fuzzes he had built; they were all great, my favourite was the Tonemaster (later renamed to “Vindicator”), a combination of a Tonebender Mk II type fuzz and a Dallas Rangemaster-ish treble booster in a convenient small box. I bought a second one this year, there’s one Tonemaster/Vindicator on each of my two pedalboards now.
Joe’s new Buzz Hound pedal is quite different from the Vindicator: The Vindicator is very convenient for playing live, it runs from standard 9v power supplies, has LEDs, and cleans up well when turning down the guitar volume. The Fuzz Hound OTOH runs from a 9V battery (it can easily be modded for power supply operation, the 9V jack is already built-in; but according to Joe, it sounds best when powered by a zinc-carbon battery), gives you more control over the low end, doesn’t clean up that well, but gives you a fantastic lead sound. Well, hear for yourself :-)
