*Pamukkale: Meaning "Cotton Castle" in Turkish, Pamukkale is a natural site containing hot springs and travertines, terraces of carbonate minerals left by the flowing water.
Travertines: These brilliant white terraces are formed by calcium-rich hot spring water.
Hierapolis: The ancient city built on top of Pamukkale. Explore the ruins, including a well-preserved theatre and a fascinating necropolis.
Cleopatra's Pool: An antique pool with submerged Roman columns (for which there is often an extra fee to enter/swim).
Ephesus: One of the best-preserved ancient cities in the world. It was a major port city and a center of early Christianity. Key sights include:
Library of Celsus: An iconic facade and testament to the importance of knowledge in the Roman world.
Great Theatre: Capable of holding 25,000 spectators, it's an impressive example of Roman engineering.
Temple of Artemis: One of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World (though only ruins remain).
The "Toilet": Public latrines were common in Roman cities. In Ephesus, you can see the remains of such a facility.
