How to improve Decision Power | Shahwaz Voice Official
in this video we will cover the following topic.
1.How to improve Decision Power
In this video we will tell you.
Start with Small, Structured Choices
Begin by offering limited, positive options that you are comfortable with, regardless of which one they pick. This prevents overwhelming them and avoids power struggles.
Toddlers (Ages 1-3): Offer two simple choices.
Example: "Would you like an apple or a banana for a snack?"
Avoid: Open-ended questions like, "What do you want to eat?" which can be overwhelming.
Preschoolers (Ages 3-5): Introduce slightly more complex choices within clear boundaries.
Example: "Do you want to brush your teeth now or after your story?"
School-age kids (Ages 6-12): Give them choices that involve more responsibility, such as how to spend their allowance or which after-school activity to join.
Teenagers (Ages 13-18): Shift towards coaching them through more significant choices, such as academic paths or curfew limits.
2. Allow Natural Consequences and Mistakes
Learning from mistakes is a crucial part of developing judgment. As long as the consequences are not harmful or unsafe, let them experience the outcome of their choices.
If a child insists on wearing a light jacket on a cold day, they will likely be cold, teaching them the importance of dressing appropriately next time.
If they spend all their money at once, they learn what it feels like to have none left.
3. Encourage Reflection and Discussion
After a decision has been made and the outcome is known, talk with your child about the experience. This helps them connect their choices to the consequences and plan for the future.
Ask questions like: "How do you feel about the choice you made?"
"What went well, and what might you do differently next time?"
Use books or hypothetical scenarios (e.g., the "What If" game) to practice problem-solving and thinking through potential outcomes in a low-stakes way.
4. Model Good Decision-Making
Children learn by observing their parents. Verbally walk through your own decision-making processes so they can hear how you weigh options, consider consequences, and arrive at a conclusion.
Example: "I'm trying to decide whether to go grocery shopping now or wait until tomorrow. If I go now, the store might be crowded, but we'll have fresh food sooner. If I wait, it might be less busy, but we'll have to make do with what's in the pantry tonight. I think I'll go now".
5. Be a Trusted Consultant, Not a Dictator
Your role is to guide, not control. Show respect for their voice and opinions. When they feel heard and trusted, they are more likely to come to you for advice on bigger issues later.
By consistently applying these strategies, you help your child build confidence, independence, problem-solving skills, and a strong sense of self-worth that will benefit them throughout their life.
i hope this video will entertain you and also give you a lesson.
