[프랑스] 파리 드골 공항에서 가까운 최초의 고도(古都) '상리스' Senlis (4K)

파리 북동쪽 43km 지점에 강과 아름다운 숲으로 둘러싸인 고도(古都) ‘상리스 Senlis’는 2000년 역사를 간직한 도시로 고대 초기부터 중세의 왕실 거주지, 고딕 양식의 대성당과 중세 성벽으로 둘러싸인 오래된 집과 골목들이 옛 모습 그대로 보존되어 영화 촬영 장소로도 인기가 높다.

전설에 따르면, 4세기 기독교 전파자이며 ‘상리스’ 초대주교이었던 ‘생 리욜 Saint-Rieul’ 성인의 유해를 보관하고 있었는데, ‘랭스 대성당 Cathédrale de Reims’에서 기독교로 개종한 프랑스 최초 ‘메로빙거왕조 Mérovingiens’의 왕 ‘클로비스 Clovis’(466-511)가 성인의 무덤에 참배하고 떠나면서 기념으로 성유물의 일부를 가져가고 싶어하였단다.

성인의 턱에서 이빨 하나를 뽑는데…. 600백년이 지난 유골에서 기적처럼 피가 끊이지 않고 흐름에도 아랑곳하지 않고 이빨 하나를 뽑아서 도시를 빠져나가려 하자 모든 성문이 저절로 닫혀 그의 길을 가로막아서 다시금 성인의 유골에 돌려 놓았단다. 지금도 이 성당에 보관 중!!!!

987년 ‘카페왕조’(987-1328)의 시조 ‘위그 카페 Hugues Capet’(940-996)가 이곳에서 귀족들에 의해 왕으로 선출되어 ‘발루아 왕조 Maison de Valois’(1328-1498), ‘발루아 오를레앙 왕조’(1498-1515), ‘발루아 앙굴렘 왕조’(1515-1589), ‘부르봉 왕조’(1589-1793, 1814-1830)의 ‘샤를 10세 Charles X’까지 거의 800년 동안 프랑스를 통치한 역사의 시작이 바로 이곳!!!
도시는 12세기와 13세기에 양모, 가죽 및 모피 교역이 증가하고 경제가 활기를 띄면서 인구가 늘어 도시를 확장하는데, ‘필립 2세 Philippe II Auguste’(1165-1223)가 더 넓게 성벽을 건설한다. 당시에는 파리보다 더 중요하고 발달한 도시이었다.

이때 많은 건축물이 들어서는데 1153-1519년에 건립되었고 13세기에 78m 높이의 첨탑이 세워진 ‘상리스의 노트르담 대성당 Cathédrales de Notre-Dame de Senlis’이 대표적이다. 4세기에 걸친 긴 공사로 초기 고딕양식에서 후기 고딕양식인 불꽃모양의 플랑부아양 양식까지 고딕 건축의 변천사를 볼 수 있고 르네상스 양식까지 가미된 아름다운 건축물이다.

주 출입문으로 사용하는 서쪽입면에는 3개의 문과 작은 장미창, 하늘높이 치솟은 첨탑은 12세기 초기 고딕건축의 특징들이 보인다. 가운데 문의 상단에 성모와 예수의 모습이 조각되어 있고, 성모 죽음과 대관식 장면이 보인다. 프랑스에서 처음으로 성모대관식 장면을 조각한 것으로 유명하다.

최후심판에 두려워하던 중세사람들에게 예수의 신부이며 하늘의 여왕인 마리아가 하나님의 옆에서 인자함과 자비로 인간을 위하여 중재하기에 지옥으로 떨어지지 않고 천국으로 갈 수 있다는 희망을 주기 시작하는 조각이다.
성당 내부는 3랑식으로 건축되었다. 길이 70미터 너비 28미터 높이 23미터의 공간을 갖는다. 주기둥을 두고 가늘고 둥근 부기둥들이 식물의 줄기처럼 하늘을 향해 올라가며 아름다운 골격을 보인다.

Senlis, an ancient city 43km northeast of Paris, surrounded by rivers and beautiful forests, is a city with 2,000 years of history. It has preserved its original appearance with its royal residences from the early Middle Ages, Gothic cathedrals, and old houses and alleys surrounded by medieval walls, making it a popular filming location.

According to legend, it contained the remains of Saint-Rieul, a 4th-century Christian preacher and the first bishop of Senlis. Clovis (466-511), the first king of the Merovingian dynasty in France who converted to Christianity at the Cathédrale de Reims, visited the saint's tomb and wanted to take a part of the holy relics with him as a souvenir before leaving.

One tooth was pulled out of the saint's jaw... . It is said that when he tried to leave the city by pulling out a tooth, despite the blood flowing miraculously from the 600-year-old remains, all the gates closed on their own, blocking his path, and he returned the remains to the saint. They are still preserved in this cathedral!!!! In 987, the founder of the Capetian dynasty (987-1328), Hugues Capet (940-996), was elected king by the nobles here, and the history of ruling France for almost 800 years, from the Maison de Valois (1328-1498), the Valois-Orléans dynasty (1498-1515), the Valois-Angoulême dynasty (1515-1589), to Charles X of the Bourbon dynasty (1589-1793, 1814-1830), began here!!! The city expanded in the 12th and 13th centuries as the trade in wool, leather, and fur increased and the economy flourished, and the population grew, and Philippe II Auguste (1165-1223) built wider walls. At that time, it was a more important and developed city than Paris.

At that time, many buildings were built, and the representative one is the 'Cathédrales de Notre-Dame de Senlis', which was built between 1153 and 1519 and has a 78m high spire built in the 13th century. It is a beautiful building where you can see the history of Gothic architecture from the early Gothic style to the late Gothic style of the flame-shaped Flamboyant style, and even the Renaissance style is added.
