A very cold day in January in the eastern fells of Cumbria but also a perfect day to get some cow manure down on the fields.
Due to a breakdown with the farms K -two rear discharge spreader their old Marshall rotaspreader was pressed into service to clear the last of the midden out.
Hooked up to a very late build (2013) droop-nose MF 5455 (one of two of these models on the farm) and despite having not been used for a number of years the Marshall still worked well with a good even spread and was very stable on the very steep field.
Loading the spreader was a very compact (the smallest apart from a skid steer handler think I’ve ever seen) JCB 516-40 telehandler, an ideal machine for working in the confines of the yard.
Unfortunately I didn’t catch that much action on the day due to visiting another farm, going canny due to the weather conditions and the midden being almost empty when I got there but I did get a glimpse of a shed full of MF tractors (anyone fancy to hazard a guess as to how many?) that I hope to catch on video in action later in the year!
Filmed in Cumbria 11th January 2025.
