This is my choral arrangement* of Mark McKenzie's Benedictus Deus (originally sung by the amazing Libera). This is just vocals humming the entire song only since my vocal group has not had the time to do it... yet. Plus, I've had some fun trying out the virtual vocal synch - so here's the result.
---------------
I instantly fell in love with this song after 10 seconds of listening; and as it continued, it just kept on getting better. Tom DL (the soloist)’s voice seems to be soaring to the air, and the choir’s harmony throughout the song is breathtaking, not to mention all those crazy key changes. This song is just out of this world – the structure, the harmony, the key changes... everything. Also, the last ‘Amen’ is one of the best ‘amen’ I’ve ever heard. So far this one is my favorite of their latest album 'Hope'.
That's why I thought of trying to make a full choral version with all the SATB parts. It's like combining my 2 hobbies together: Libera & doing harmonization.
---------------
(Note) This is not completely my own arrangement. I tried to use the original harmony as much as possible, so you will find certain parts with exactly the same harmony line as Libera's version (mostly in the alto). Except for those parts to which I only add the tenor & bass, I did harmony for the other parts entirely on my own.
