Yu Hongjie asserts that before Jesus’ birth, God and man were separate, but through the incarnation, they united in one person, termed a “new creation.” Yu Hongjie further designates Christ as the “head of the new creation race” and the “second man,” placing Him alongside believers as the third or fourth in a sequence. This interpretation misapplies 2 Corinthians 5:17, where “new creation” describes believers’ regeneration, not Christ. Jesus, the eternal Creator, is uncreated and requires no regeneration, possessing a divine essence distinct from humanity. Labeling Christ a “new creation” blurs the critical boundary between Creator and creature, undermining His unique deity and echoing heretical ideas, such as those of Witness Lee. Yu’s phrasing also risks implying God is part of creation, further confusing theological categories. Pastor Mark Sun underscores that orthodox theology demands precise distinctions between God’s and man’s essence. Even if subtle, Erroneous teachings can significantly mislead believers, fostering doctrinal confusion. Pastors must deliver clear, robust teachings on Christology and creation theology to uphold Jesus Christ’s uniqueness and uncreated nature. Such precision safeguards the faith’s foundation, preventing spiritual harm from misguided doctrines. The call is for vigilance and clarity to ensure the church remains anchored in truth, avoiding the deceptive allure of errors cloaked in otherwise sound preaching.
