Magnus Carlsen's Pirc Defense beats Zhigalko

Featured is an excellent chess game between Sergei Zhigalko and Magnus Carlsen from the September 3rd, 2024 Early Titled Tuesday. Watch how Carlsen, playing the Pirc Defense, quickly assumes an active post with his queen. The pressure it exerts prompts Zhigalko to eventually challenge her. In the process it allows Carlsen a queenside pawn expansion that is soon only a step away from kicking the c3-knight from its defense of e4. Despite this brief 3|1 time control, Carlsen's accuracy still managed to reach a remarkable 98%.
