The Fair Flower of Northumberland (Roud Folk Song Index #25) is an English and Scottish ballad dating from at least the 16th century. It describes a Northumberland girl being seduced by a Scottish prisoner into letting him go and crossing the border with him, only to be rejected and return home alone. Thomas Deloney's 1597 fiction book 'The Pleasant History of Jack of Newbery' features the song in a scene where Henry VIII visits a cloth manufactory.

This channel is dedicated to preserving the neglected culture of English folk songs in the form of short lyrical videos. The folk songs of the English have been overlooked compared to those of the other British peoples, something that this channel hopes to fix.
