LITTLE BEAR PEAK 14er!! (SOLO HIKE)

At 14,037 feet above sea level little bear peak sits high above spanish peaks country nearby alamosa peak and ellingwood point. Backpack hiking into como lake near the great sand dunes national park in the rocky mountains of Colorado I camped the first night, then sent for the summit the next day. This route is super fun, and once at the lake its pretty short. there are 3 main sections: the gully which is difficult to maneuver because of scree and also dangerous, the ride traverse which is beautiful and good trail if you can find the cairns, routefinding is the crux here, and then the hourglass couloir which is the classic fun scrambly climb up to the summit of little bear peak 14er. The climbing here is easy but the whole part is dangerous becuase there is so much loose rock that if knocked just pinballs down the whole thing like a bombing range. So be careful and wear a helmet on this one!
