The construction of a European Fort, Fort Amsterdam, on the Gold Coast (Ghana), in the 17th Century, from an architect’s perspective. Available in English, French, Fanti, Ewe, Hausa & Ga languages. Fort Amsterdam is one of the 28 Forts and Castles registered in Ghana as a World Heritage site under the UNESCO 1972 Convention for their Outstanding Universal Value. According to UNESCO: « The Castles and Forts of Ghana shaped not only Ghana’s history but that of the world over four centuries as the focus of first the gold trade and then the slave trade. They are a significant and emotive symbol of European-African encounters and of the starting point of the African Diaspora ». This film was made possible with the financial support of the Embassy of France in Ghana through the Sankofa support project to higher education and research in heritage and tourism.

Fort Amsterdam est un des 28 forts et châteaux du #ghana inscrits au patrimoine mondial de l’humanité de l’UNESCO au titre de la convention de 1972 pour leur valeur universelle exceptionnelle. Selon l’UNESCO : “les forts et châteaux du Ghana ont modelé non seulement l’histoire du Ghana, mais celle du monde au cours de quatre siècles de commerce d’abord de l’or puis de traite négrière. Ils sont un symbole chargé de sens et d’émotion des rencontres entre l’Europe et l’Afrique et un point de départ de la diaspora africaine”. Ce film a été rendu possible grâce au soutien de l’Ambassade de France au #ghana , sur financement du projet Sankofa de soutien à l’enseignement supérieur et à la recherche pour le patrimoine et le tourisme.
