The Sawe River is a fast-flowing stream that originates at about 600 meters altitude in the Grande Fange, a peat bog located in Jalhay, within the heart of the Hautes Fagnes (High Fens) nature reserve.
Over a span of 6 kilometers, the river descends roughly 280 meters, forming dramatic waterfalls and rapids along the way.
Near Parfondbois, the Sawe joins the Statte River, just north of Solwaster, and eventually flows into the Hoëgne River, near the Roslin Forest.
