Today on The Railway Room I'm building a freelance 009 gauge model of a Victorian style narrow gauge steam locomotive from Fourdees!
The kit is one of a range from Fourdees that is designed to use the chassis from the Kato/Peco Ffestiniog England locomotives. The kit is named "The Pioneer" and is an 0-4-0ST with open cab. The design is very heavily influenced by the early Ffestiniog England locos, but imagined as a tank locomotive rather than with a tender.
Fourdees have gained quite a reputation amongst 009 modellers for the quality of their products, so I was very excited to get my hands on this. It's the first, but definitely not the last, kit of theirs to feature on The Railway Room! An interesting new feature on Fourdees kits is their expanding range of custom QuickFix decals, which are very reasonably priced. I also add these to the loco, using Vallejo Decal Fix and Decal Softener. I also add extra details including genuine Welsh steam coal, a Brooks3D shovel, plus a driver from Scale3D!
