Visite de l'église et cloître des Récollets de Saverne

Le couvent : Le couvent est fondé en 1303, comme en témoigne la gravure de cette date sur une des portes. Le couvent se développera au cours des XIVe et XVe siècles par la construction de l'église, du cloître et des bâtiments conventuels. Les franciscains créent un collège en 1486. Les jésuites prendront leur suite en 1571 et y effectueront des remaniements en fin de XVIe siècle[1]. Abandonné en 1595, il est repris par les franciscains au XVIIe siècle qui y apporteront de nouveaux aménagements. Abandonné une deuxième fois, le couvent servira de caserne et sera racheté par la commune au début du XIXe siècle pour servir de collège.

L'église Saint-Antoine de Padoue ferme au sud le quadrilatère des bâtiments conventuels.

L'orgue : Un orgue est attesté en 1609, et serait l'œuvre d'un dénommé Johann Faber. L'orgue actuel, de 1763, est de Louis Dubois. 32 feuillets manuscrits de chant grégorien collés sur les parois, ont été découverts sous le sommier

The Church of Saint Anthony of Padua closes the quadrilateral of the convent buildings to the south.

The organ: An organ is attested in 1609, and is said to be the work of a man named Johann Faber. The current organ, from 1763, is by Louis Dubois. 32 handwritten sheets of Gregorian chant glued to the walls were discovered under the soundboard.
