In 1981, Peter Johnson, an experienced climber, was scaling the Andes alone when a ferocious snowstorm hit. Exhausted and losing hope, Peter suddenly noticed a figure ahead of him—a climber in a red jacket, moving steadily through the storm. Desperate, he followed the figure, who seemed to know the safest path. The climber never turned around, never spoke, but their presence felt oddly comforting.
