The Ela m251 is one of the most revered vocal microphones in the history of music. Comissioned by Telefunken in the 1960's and made originally by AKG. the Ela m251 is known for it's bright, intimate sound. The 251 has become the staple of vocal recording along side it's older brother the Neumann u47. Paired with a Neve 1073, Urei 1176 and a great opto like the UA La2a or Tubetech Cl1b you will get the sound of "hit records". An Ela m251 original can fetch as much as 30k$ which is probably out of bounds for most mortals. There are allot of clones out there on the market, but who builds the best clone?
