New controversy hits China's Wuhan lab | Voice Of The Global South

A laboratory in China's Wuhan is back in the news after the Pasteur Institute, based in France's capital Paris, cast doubt on its role in an alleged leak of a polio virus. It is the same institute that was at the centre of a controversy during the COVID-19 pandemic after China reported the first cases of the Coronavirus in December 2019. That, coupled with the discovery of a new deadly virus called Wetland that affects the brain, has raised fears of a pandemic. As the world scrambles to contain the spread of the Mpox outbreak and a new COVID-19 subvariant called XEC, the question foremost on everyone's mind is whether virus-borne diseases are making a comeback?
