Cleveland restaurant group buys local businesses on the brink of closing

As more and more restaurants across Northeast Ohio seem to shut their doors for good, a number of family-owned shops are getting a second chance.

The Cleveland Restaurant Management Group, co-owned by Marc's Grocery CEO Marc Glassman, has purchased local restaurants like Jack's Deli and Eat at Joe's with the goal of preserving cultural staples.

Victoria Natsis, whose family bought Victoria's Deli and Restaurant in 1983, credits the group with keeping their family shop alive.

“Now we get to keep the restaurant going, the customers that we love, keep the staff that we love,” said Natsis.

Victoria's Deli draws in regulars who know the staff by name, and the staff knows them, too.

"You know, I've been to many funerals just because we love our customers a lot,” said Natsis.

Natsis recalls growing up within the walls of Victoria's.

“I was 6-years-old, and, I remember vividly walking around here, throwing my pillow around,” said Natsis. “This is the blood, sweat and tears of my family.”

The memories Natsis made inside the restaurant walls, made it especially difficult when Victoria's father passed away and business began to struggle.
