Nopuko Air Coaster - 4K Front Row On-ride POV - Suspended Looping Coaster - Lost Island Theme Park

Come take a not-so-smooth front row ride on Nopuko Air Coaster, a relocated and refurbished Vekoma Suspended Looping Coaster located at Lost Island Theme Park in Waterloo, Iowa.

Nopuko Air Coaster is one of 5 Vekoma SLCs that feature the 765m Standard layout with an additional helix. The coaster started its life in 1998 as Cobra at Ratanga Junction, which is located in Cape Town, South Africa. The park and the coaster closed in 2018. Cobra was sold to Lost Island to be built at their new theme park. The coaster was refurbished and received a pair of new Vekoma vest harness trains, which replaced the ride's original trains that featured standard over the shoulder restraints.

Despite featuring the new vest restraints, the ride remains incredibly uncomfortable. So much so that the ride operator spiel includes a few warnings regarding how rough the ride is. They also advise guests to sit in the back for a smoother ride. They still allow you to ride in the front, but they will ask you if you fully understand how rough it will be and if you're really sure you want to ride it.

As you could probably tell, yes, the ride was very rough. The vest restraints made the ride at least somewhat tolerable. While the front was a one and done ride for me, the back was a bit better. SLC layouts are super fun, aside from the roughness. Riding in the back almost lets you enjoy it.
