David Corbell - Stonewall - Official Song of Stonewall's 50th Anniversary (Official Music Video)

Stonewall Inn and Stonewall Inn Gives Back Initiative are pleased to announce the release of the Official Song of the Stonewall 50th Anniversary Celebration, titled "Stonewall".

Co-written by independent artist David Corbell and Grammy-winner Eliot Kennedy, and performed by David Corbell, "Stonewall" is an anthem celebrating the strength of the brave men and women who stood up against oppression and police brutality. It reminds us all that "when they refuse to understand, that's the time to make a stand," and "we've got to be, a Stonewall!"

This musical collaboration started in March when David met with Stonewall Inn owners Stacy Lentz and Kurt Kelly at the historic venue. After a discussion about the enduring message of 50 years prior, David and Eliot worked to distill the sentiment into a powerful anthem of resistance in the face of adversity. The resulting song will last the next 50 years and beyond as a reminder to those around the World to remember the strength of those human rights pioneers and find your inner strength.

"I'm extraordinarily honored for our song to have been selected to commemorate those who, when pushed against the wall and knocked down one too many times, had the strength to stand up and say 'no more!'. As a long time Castro resident and LGBTQIA+ activist, I hope this message resonates around the World to people of all different sexual orientations, genders, classes, ethnic and religious minorities, to stand up when the powers that be question you, and question me," says Corbell.

Majority proceeds from the purchase of "Stonewall" will benefit the Stonewall Inn Gives Back Initiative and their efforts to reach LGBTQIA+ people around the US and the world.
