Progressing with rust repair and quarter panel and fender skirt fitment on the Bel Airror by building and fitting the supporting structure for the rear aftermarket quarter panel including locating the aftermarket trunk drop off and completing and fitting the rearmost wheel well patch which was roughed into shape in Video #3. Wheel well patch shaping starts around 23:20.
Discovered a major misstep when revising the quarter panel edge for welding (initiated in Video #7).
Structures are mounted with Cleco clamps, vice grips, and screws at this time so they are removable for final finishing and prep for welding and in case adjustment is needed after setting up the front portion of the quarter panel including rebuilding its substructure (in a future video). Feel free to fast forward through my incessant talking with this one.
The original panels were mostly spot welded together with no paint or other finish between them. Much of this work involved planning for final mig welding the given access and structure limitations (ya just can't plug weld more than two layers at one time).
Cheers!
