SUCKAMANIACS!!!! It has been an incredibly busy year for your old Uncle Ben. I've been all the way from Canada to Mexico alongside my band Far Far Away, plus Whitechapel, Unearth, and Andy Wood! Plus i've been teaching HUNDREDS of lessons in person and via Skype to folks just like you. It has been amazing. But i have slacked on getting my loyal Shredi Knights up to speed and making me proud. So with that in mind, i present to you This Is Why You Suck at Guitar: Weekend Wankshop!!! In this new weekly series, we will be learning a new lick every week from your favorite players or from the depths of my own homeschooled mind. These will serve as musical snacks in between the more heartily-potioned regular This is Why You Suck videos. So put these licks in between your cheek and gum, and let their juices trickle down your gullet to sustain your cravings for some hardcore shred.
Today's lick is one of my own, somewhat in the style of John Petrucci of Dream Theater. One of my favorite players! This one would work great over an A minor chord, or you could even play it over an F Major chord for a cool lydian sound, or D minor chord for a nifty Dorian lick.
