This video is showing how I start my wood gas machine. I also show how different colors of the flame appear when using this machine. Interesting with the previous start-ups I found that when there is a bridging issue the flame turns into a orange pink flame. I also noted that when this happens the flame will eventually turn its self out. If this helps anyone out I live in a area where the elevation is about 4000ft ASL. In the burn zone of my gasifier I had to make my fire cone which is just like flashes 5inches on the top then 3inches and further reduction zone 2inches. The reduction zone in my first attempt was 2inches as well, I found that I had too little air going through the system which turned out to be a lower burn plus clogging issues. So I went with Flashes older design with a straight pipe amost 3inch reduction zone. Once I switched to this I found even when starting the gasifier it kept its burn real bright and hot. I also think that because I live at a higher elevation the machine needs to have more oxygen to work. Plus I got my engine to run!!
