Escape to Padre Island: A Weekend Retreat at Bali County Park

We interrupt our #BeyondTX videos to share our recent weekend trip to Padre Island on the Texas Gulf Coast. RV Camping options down on Padre range from free beach camping to full hookups for rigs of all sizes. We went down planning to try beach camping, but the high tide warnings changed our minds.

In this video, we show you Malaquite Campground which offers dry camping with a view of the gulf inside Padre Island National Seashore. Then we move up the coast about 12 miles to Padre Bali County Park so we can plug the rig in and run the air conditioners at night (it was still pretty warm during our visit).

We can't wait to go back down and spend a couple of weeks in the area when it cools down a bit! Watch for another Padre Island video in the future!

By the way, if you're wondering about the material hanging from our awning, that is our Sunblocker ( https://amzn.to/2qagn3T ). It provides more shade under the awning by defusing the sun that comes from that angle (in this case, the afternoon sun). We normally have the bottom tied down so it doesn't blow around like it did here. It can make our awning area MUCH cooler on a hot day.
