Hundreds are protesting ICE in Portland right now, with the biggest actions in Portland, Maine, and continued pressure around the ICE facility in Portland, Oregon, all tied to the Renee Good shooting and new raids. Roughly 1,000–1,200 people packed Monument Square and then marched through downtown Portland Friday night in the largest protest since a new ICE sweep began this week. The crowd chanted “No justice, no peace, get ICE off our streets” and “ICE Out Maine,” blocking at least one traffic lane along Congress Street while passing drivers honked and showed support. ICE’s “Operation Catch of the Day” has arrested more than 100 people in Maine in a few days, officially targeting “worst of the worst” criminals but sweeping up people with work permits and no criminal records, which protesters call illegal and terrorizing.
