The US Ambassador to PNG, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu recently visited Manus Province
During her two days stay she outlined key development aspirations for the US Government and how it involves PNG and Moreso Manus Province
Amongst Her talks is the talk on the recent signing of the US-PNG 505 Agreement which was singed on Friday 9th of July, 2021
For Manus Province this is a great step in regards to its already developed Benjamin Initiative
Members of The Benjamin Iniative Team, a team that was formed by the Provincial Executive Council to push Manus Agendas relating to this International and Bilateral Developments, expressed that the signing of the 505 Agreement paves way for them to now see that the Benjamin Initiative which holds many ambitious aspirations of the Province be attached as an annex to the agreement thus paving way for it be funded.
The Benjamin Initiative covers huge developments such as the Manus East West Highway, Ndraukei Sea Port, Rural Electricity, Water Supplies, Capacity Programs and so fort.
In her speach the US ambassador Her Excellency Erin McKee, reiterated and explained that the 505 Agreement paves way for the USA to partner directly with PNG on various Monetary, Military and Capacity Building Programs with less to no influence from other countries and organizations
She did also mentioned that they had to ensured that PNGs interest is captured in the agreement before its signing
