Ellora Caves, located near Aurangabad in Maharashtra, are one of India’s most incredible UNESCO World Heritage Sites. This ancient rock-cut complex represents a perfect blend of Buddhist, Hindu, and Jain cultures, carved directly into the basalt rock between the 6th and 10th centuries.
The highlight of Ellora is the Kailasa Temple (Cave 16) — the world’s largest monolithic rock-cut structure, carved from a single rock from top to bottom. The detailing, sculptures, and scale of this temple are beyond imagination and reflect the brilliance of ancient Indian craftsmanship.

Ellora consists of 34 caves:
Buddhist Caves (1–12) – showcasing meditation halls and monasteries

ಮಹಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರದ ಔರಂಗಾಬಾದ್ ಸಮೀಪದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಎಲ್ಲೋರಾ ಗುಹೆಗಳು ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲಿನ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಅದ್ಭುತವಾದ ಯುನೆಸ್ಕೋ ವಿಶ್ವ ಪರಂಪರಾ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದಾಗಿದೆ. 6ನೇ ಶತಮಾನದಿಂದ 10ನೇ ಶತಮಾನಗಳ ನಡುವೆ ಬ್ಯಾಸಾಲ್ಟ್ ಕಲ್ಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆತ್ತಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ಈ ಗುಹೆಗಳು ಬೌದ್ಧ, ಹಿಂದೂ ಮತ್ತು ಜೈನ ಧರ್ಮಗಳ ಏಕತೆಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿಬಿಂಬಿಸುತ್ತವೆ.
ಎಲ್ಲೋರಾದ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಆಕರ್ಷಣೆ ಕೈಲಾಸ ದೇವಾಲಯ (ಗುಹೆ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆ 16) — ಇದು ಜಗತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲೇ ಅತಿ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಏಕಶಿಲಾ ದೇವಾಲಯವಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಮೇಲಿನಿಂದ ಕೆಳಗೆ ಒಂದೇ ಕಲ್ಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆತ್ತಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಇದರ ಶಿಲ್ಪಕಲೆ ಮತ್ತು ವಿನ್ಯಾಸ ಪುರಾತನ ಭಾರತದ ಅಪ್ರತಿಮ ಶಿಲ್ಪಕಲೆಯ ಉದಾಹರಣೆಯಾಗಿದೆ.

ಎಲ್ಲೋರಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಟ್ಟು 34 ಗುಹೆಗಳಿವೆ:
ಬೌದ್ಧ ಗುಹೆಗಳು (1–12) – ಧ್ಯಾನ ಮಂದಿರಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ವಿಹಾರಗಳು
ಹಿಂದೂ ಗುಹೆಗಳು (13–29) – ರಾಮಾಯಣ ಮತ್ತು ಮಹಾಭಾರತದ ಕಥೆಗಳು
ಜೈನ ಗುಹೆಗಳು (30–34) – ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮ ಶಿಲ್ಪ ಮತ್ತು ಸರಳ ವಿನ್ಯಾಸ
