Day 5: Ride to Shivapura Hanging Bridge | Kali Tiger Reserve

I left the coast for an intense jungle off-road challenge in the Western Ghats. Other riders turned back, but I had to see if the Africa Twin could make it to the hidden hanging bridge inside the Kali Tiger Reserve.

Welcome to Episode 4 of "The Slow Roads" series, as I continue my solo motorcycle journey from the south towards the Himalayas. After a brief stop at a secluded beach property near Goa, it’s time to head back into the mountains.

Today’s destination is the Shivapura Hanging Bridge, suspended over the wide Kali River in Karnataka. The ride takes us deep into the Kali Tiger Reserve near Dandeli. The tarmac quickly disappears, replaced by a steep, loose, and technical off-road climb through dense forest. Along the way, I meet other travelers who decided the road was too tough for their bikes, adding to the pressure.

Join me on this adventure through the incredible forests of the Western Ghats, complete with challenging terrain, unexpected history lessons from strangers, and the stunning final view of the bridge.
