I stayed at Yorozuya in Shinshu Yudanaka Onsen, Yamanouchi Town, Nagano Prefecture.

Yudanaka Onsen is located in the Yudanaka Shibu Onsen area and is the central hot spring town. Yorozuya, which has three hot springs sources, is a long-established inn famous for its Momoyama bath, known for its beautiful bathhouse architecture.

Founded in 1800. It is said that feudal lords often visited Yudanaka, which was the territory of the Sanada Matsushiro clan at the time, for hot spring cures. It became famous as a hot spring to break the fast before visiting Zenkoji Temple in Nagano.

In 1951, after the end of the war, the owner at the time, Hiroshi Ono, built a large bath that brought together the best of Azuchi-Momoyama period temple architecture, taking inspiration from the Tenpyo bath at the Arai Ryokan in Shuzenji, and the Momoyama bath was completed after three years. The Momoyama bath, which conveys that style to the present day, can be said to be one of Japan's most historical baths. After that, a garden open-air bath with a view of the Momoyama bath from outside was also developed.

The modern main building was built in 1969 and has a retro Showa atmosphere. The lobby has a solemn atmosphere with a Japanese atmosphere scattered throughout, and you will be surprised by its luxury when you pass through the entrance.

The slightly hotter Momoyama bath is luxuriously fed directly from the source. It is rare to see a bath of that size fed directly from the source. The time I spent all to myself in the Momoyama bath, which is available all night, was a luxurious bathing experience that I could not experience anywhere else. The view of the Momoyama bath from the open-air bath was also very beautiful, and although I did not include it in the video, I spent all my free time in the hot spring.

Every Saturday from 10:00, a tour of the Momoyama bath is held. By chance, I stayed on Friday-Saturday and was able to participate in the tour, which was an interesting way to learn about its history.

The only disappointment was that I visited in winter, so there was a lot of steam in the Momoyama bath, and I was unable to capture the entire bath on video. On the other hand, the morning sun shone into the steam, creating a beautiful and fantastical scene. I hope to be able to film it again when I visit again in warmer weather. I'm already looking forward to that time.
